This is the First Responder Whiskey Society barrel pick for fallen officer David Sisto
David was born in 1981 in North Park, San Diego.  He attended school at Jefferson Elementary until 4th grade.  He helped take care of his 2 little sisters after school while he was staying with his grandparents after school.  He moved to Encinitas when he was in the 5th grade and attended Ocean Knoll Elementary where he played basketball on the school team.  He also played Little League baseball.  He continued playing baseball through junior high, where he earned the name of Mr. Clutch on his competitive teams.  He began wrestling in junior high school as well.
He attended La Costa Canyon High School where he played football as a defensive end, as well as la crosse where he earned a second nickname of The Goon.  He always excelled academically.  He always wanted to join the Marines.  At the age of 17 he signed up for the Marine Corps Reserves.  The day after his 18th birthday he reported to boot camp at MCRD San Diego.  After boot camp he attended training at 29 Palms for ground radio repair for 1 year.  He was assigned to the 4th Tank Battalion as a reservist.  He was deployed to Iraq in 2005 thru 2006 with the 2nd Military Police Battalion.  They did convoy security. US customs security, and infantry security.
Upon returning from deployment, he worked for FedEX at Lindbergh Field as Ramp Lead while waiting to get accepted into the Police Academy.  He always had a strong desire, even as a youth, to help others.  He was elated when the budget cuts ended, and he was finally able to start at the academy so he could pursue a career with the police department.  He joined the San Diego Police Department in 2010.
As an SDPD officer, David received a lifesaving medal reward in 2014, as well as two commanding officer citations in 2013 and 2016.  David met his wife Sheena in 2008.  She has been by his side, and his supportive rock in all he did.  She was the love of his life.  They have 2 rambunctious happy sons – Jameson, 5, and Jaxon, 4.  The boys adored their daddy, as he did them.  They enjoyed Padres games, camping, entertaining friends and more than anything, family.  They love life as a family.
