Description
Experience the unique artistry of Félix, a part-time mezcalero and full-time farmer in the village of Yogana, nestled in the southern end of Oaxaca's Ejutla district. In this rich, cambisol soil, Félix tends to a diverse bounty—agave, maize, squash, and beans. Between cultivating seasonal crops, Félix crafts mezcal using agave species planted among the rows, distilling on specialized Ejutla equipment that achieves remarkable proof in a single pass.
On Fridays, Félix journeys to the Ocotlan Market, selling his mezcal to fund a neighborhood store run by his wife and daughter. Félix's story is woven into the soil, the agave, and the mezcal— a testament to the harmonious balance between tradition, agriculture, and craft in the hills of Yogana. Cheers to Félix, his mezcal, and the vibrant tapestry of life in Oaxaca.
