The Spring 2022 Distiller’s Cut starts with our Classic American Single Malt Whiskey, originally aged in New American White Oak, and then finished in used Armagnac barrels. Armagnac is a grape brandy produced in the Armagnac region of Gascony in southwest France. It is typically distilled from wine made from a blend of grapes, using column stills. This differs from cognac, which uses pot stills and is made predominantly from ugni blanc grapes. Armagnac typically has notes of earth, caramel, plums and vanilla.
Tasting notes:
On the Nose:
Raisin, vanilla, rose, roasted nectarines.
Neat:
Sugared plums, red wine, white pepper and stone fruit on the mid palate, ending with a lingering milk chocolate finish.
On the Rocks:
Tannic notes of white wine and black tea. White pepper increases, but milk chocolate finish deepens.
