Description
The first release is a 28 YO Single Malt Cognac Cask Whiskey. The whiskey, the oldest expression ever released by the distillery, is a limited time offering, as will be all of the releases in The Rare Cask series.
Tasting Notes
Color
Light gold
On the nose
Creamy, floral, with pronounced tropical and stone fruit notes, orange zest, along with a hint of anise, a slight herbaceousness and some oak in the background. There is also a spicy note of cinnamon. The peach notes become more evident as the whiskey opens up.
On the palate
Anise and peach flavors are more pronounced. The whisky is smooth and sweet, with notes of dried tropical fruit, mango, melon and a bit of pineapple, some prune and some golden raisin, along with cinnamon and vanilla and a hint of almond. There is a slight bitter note and a mild but lingering pepperiness.
The finish
Long, creamy with a dried fruit sweetness featuring pronounced peach notes and a lingering pepperiness.
