Nose is “vanilla lemon cake.” The palate is a balance of caramel, vanilla, spices and citrus. I’m not sure if they made the opulent bottle to match the Whiskey or vice versa.
Willett Family Estate Bottled Small Batch Rye is aged by pre-selected White Oak barrels for four years. Packaged at a barrel quality. Profound multifaceted nature and a dash of sweetness with some toasted notes. A heavenly tasted Whiskey
The foundation of BCS Gray Label Seagrass began with two groups of 16-year-old 100% Canadian Rye barrels – one with bright citrus and crisp green apple notes and the other with earthy spearmint notes. A portion of the first group was finished in Apricot Brandy casks, a portion of the second group was finished in Martinique rhum barrels, and a blend of the first and second groups was finished in Malmsey Madeira barrels. When each set of secondary maturation flavors peaked, those casks were pulled and slowly married into the final blend.
Russell’s Reserve has continuously produced some of the best rye whiskeys, and this non-chill filtered, 104 proof single barrel rye is no exception — delivering a balance of spicy pepper, vanilla and tobacco flavors. Master Distiller Eddie Russell planned this release for years, resulting in a big whiskey that stands up to any cocktail.
‘Jefferson’s Rye Cognac Finish marries the spice of American Rye with the refinement of cognac. Double barreled for at least 9 months and up to 19 months, it exemplifies Jefferson’s renowned and innovative maturation techniques. The Cognac finish adds complexity and depth to the typical one dimensional character of the spice of rye whiskey. The typical dryness on the finish is replaced with a thick mouth feel and honey and orange. A true sipping rye whiskey.’
Pikesville Straight Rye Whiskey declines to be overlooked. First delivered in Maryland in the 1890s, the brand, alongside whatever is left of the once-blasting Maryland Rye industry, was covered by disallowance. The brand reemerged after preclusion and turned into the last standing Maryland Rye, as whatever remains of the business’ generation had stopped. Presently created in Kentucky from additional aged barrels put away in prime distribution center areas, Heaven Hill keeps this noteworthy Maryland stamp bursting at the seams with this honor winning six year old 110 proof offering.
Rendezvous Rye is our flagship whiskey. Almost every other straight rye whiskey you can buy today is barely legal, with 51-53% rye in the mash bill. Not Rendezvous Rye. It honors the way rye whiskey used to be made, with a high rye content and full, uncompromised flavor. With Rendezvous Rye, you get a taste of authentic rye whiskey. We hope you enjoy it.

BCS Gray Label Whiskey began with two selections of 24-year Canadian whiskey barrels: one set was fruit-forward and tropical, and one was woody, with a light floral aroma. A portion of the fruit-forward blend was transferred into Oloroso Sherry barrels and a portion of the floral and earthy blend was transferred into Armagnac casks. The remaining whiskey from the two groups was then combined to mingle. When the timing and flavor from the finishing casks peaked, the three components were carefully blended together.
The mature, spicy whiskey is front and center, reminiscent of wheat fields edged with wildflowers. There is a rare and noteworthy concentration of aroma, enriched with a candy sweetness and leafy earthiness from the finishing casks, that calls to mind a toasty Belgian waffle.

With 95% rye in the mashbill, this is a true rye aficionado’s whiskey. Sweet and smooth; spicy without being medicinal, Old Scout Rye honors a time when rye whiskey was THE whiskey in America.
McKenzie Rye Whiskey is made from local rye grain and is distilled using old-time techniques. We age this whiskey in new charred oak casks and finish in sherry barrels from local wineries. The sherry balances the spiciness of the rye and also gives a nod to the wine region where this whiskey is produced.
‘A long and patiently aged whiskey is only as good as the grain it’s born from. With our oldest expression to date, we’re tapping into the time-honored techniques of the farmer distillers who invented the category in America’s early days. To kick start fermentation they malted a small portion of their yearly harvest. This delicate heating process opens up the grain, allowing yeasts easier access to the sugars they’ll soon convert to alcohol. It also imbues the resulting spirit with floral and earthy tonalities. Our mash bill 79% rye, 15% malted rye and 6% malted barley creates a sipping experience that evolves on the palate from soft and supple to rich and savory. A thrilling encounter accentuated by 18 years of maturation in virgin oak. Each annual edition of our Double Malt Rye is crowned with a bespoke glass topper, handmade in Vermont. Certified Kosher.’
WhistlePig Double Malt Rye is our oldest Rye, patiently mellowed for 18 years. Before industrial distillation, America’s original farmers would malt a small portion of their grain to start fermentation, the essential step that turns water and rye into glorious whiskey. As a nod to the farmers, Double Malt Rye is crafted from a mash bill of Rye, Malted Rye and Malted Barley. History aside, these grains unite in a show-stopping Rye Whiskey that stretches far and wide across the flavor spectrum. Its base of 79% Rye delivers bold, peppery spice, while 15% Malted Rye adds soft, floral and earthy character. A final 6% of malted barley brings rich, sweet, toasted notes. At once bold, complex, delicate and elegant, WhistlePig 18 is the whiskey that your most memorable toasts require, and a gem on any bar.
We recommend that you enjoy this special spirit neat, due to its many layers of complexity, next to a warm fire as the snow piles up on the window sill. It also pairs beautifully with fig cookies!
”A few years ago, Trey was out with a few friends and Chef Edward Lee. As they began to order some different dishes for dinner, he and Edward started talking about the pairing of bourbon and food, specifically spicier dishes like his Korean Fried Chicken. The group started tasting bourbons together with food and realized that they really liked the notes that were brought out in each one. They knew they had a good idea. Over the next 9 months, Trey and Edward would get together and try his food along with a number of different bourbon recipes, trying to marry them together to get the right flavors for the recipe. They couldn’t find exactly what they were looking for until Trey picked up a bottle of Jefferson’s Rye and decided to mix it with one of our straight bourbon offerings. The combination of bourbon and rye became a perfect combination of fruit flavors up front and the spice of the rye at the end. It’s a great pairing whiskey for big, spicy food.”
Distilled from a unique blend of thoroughbred grains from the Northern Neck of Virginia; 2/3 rye, 1/3 barley, hand-malted and kiln-dried with applewood and cherrywood smoke.
Double pot-distilled at a low 150 to 160 proof to enhance the fruitiness and matured in ex-bourbon barrels with progressive infusions of toasted apple wood and oak chips.
Young bright rye whiskey, spicy pepper flavors and notes of dried herbs and cinnamon. Some nice sweetness as a counterpoint to the spice of the rye. Blend of two rye mashbill, one 95% rye the other 70% rye. Nice in a Manhattan, go light on the vermouth with this one.
WhistlePig began when a ragged band of Rye enthusiasts dared to set forth beyond the bounds of past or possibility. In pursuit of independence, innovation – and ingredients – we landed upon an abandoned dairy barn in the heart of Vermont farm country. FarmStock Beyond Bonded is our boldest dream yet: a tribute to the hearty, heirloom crop at its core. Farmed in our own backyard, distilled and proofed with our own well water, and aged in our own sustainably-harvested Vermont oak, each individual barrel is an untapped expression of the WhistlePig Farm.
Beyond Bonded FarmStock Rye is a Straight Rye Whiskey crafted from grain-to-glass at the WhistlePig Farm and Distillery.
FarmStock Rye is a tribute to our grain-to-glass process, crafted with our own grain harvested by Farmer Lee, distilled with water from our well, and aged in local, sustainably sourced Vermont Oak barrels. It’s bottled in barn -all right here on the WhistlePig Farm. For our core FarmStock expression, we blend our own whiskey with older Ryes for a well-balanced, easy drinking profile… a great starting point for drinkers who are new to Rye.
Once a year, we are incredibly proud to share from our farm to your glass a limited number of FarmStock barrels that are 100% WhistlePig Whiskey, bottled in bond and so much more. We call these FarmStock Beyond Bonded; they’re a true labor of love.
The biggest impression here is a sort of nondescript, fruity sweetness with a hint of tart citrus. The herbaceous, minty taste isn’t immediately noticeable, but shows up as the drink hangs around in the palate. Out of the three, this one has the least assertive rye flavor. It doesn’t seem to be contributing too much, or is maybe drowned out by the citrus. There isn’t too much to say here. Fans of boozy lemonade will probably be pleased, especially if they enjoy carbonated beverages. It’s drinkable, but not something I’d go out of my way to drink.
The new expression starts with Chicken Cock’s Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey and is finished in Caribbean rum casks for at least six months. Island Rooster was inspired by a trip to the Caribbean, where the distillers found roosters announcing every new morning.
Island Rooster’s mash bill is 95% rye and 5% malted barley, and the liquid is bottled at 95 proof (47.5% ABV) in an apothecary-style embossed bottle with a metal cup cap.
Chicken Cock Island Rooster Rum Barrel Rye was awarded a Gold Medal at the 2022 San Francisco World Spirits Competition and the whiskey’s production was limited to just 25 barrels.

“Goldrun Rye has aromas of fresh baked rye bread, yeasty with hints of warm rye cereal. The palate is fruity and bready, with a soft touch of spice. Goldrun Rye is extremely unique and is like no other rye on the market. …You will find aromas of fresh marmalade on rye toast with a touch of honey and a handful of pecans. There are hints of honey, cereal, and fresh persimmons on the palate. And some nice, spicy rye comes through on the back palate moving forward so the fruit does not turn sweet. The finish is all fresh rye”
Putting our bourbon in Dragon’s Milk barrels worked so well, that we wanted to see what it would do to rye whiskey. Beer Barrel Rye takes a similar journey through new American oak barrels before getting the Dragon’s Milk barrel treatment. Aromas of vanilla and allspice lead to flavors of honey and almond, before a lingering, spicy finish.
