Founded in 1952, Kumesen Syuzo started on distilling Awamori which is a distilled alcoholic beverage indigenous made with Indica rice and unique to Okinawa islands of Japan, also know as Ryuku islands. Then around 1989, this innovative distillery started to age Awamori in oak barrels, creating a unique kind of ji-whisky in its own category, thus named it the Ryukyu Whisky.

Nobushi whiskey is a blended whiskey with great balance and fine velvet textures, surrounded and represented by a resplendent golden-amber colour. It is a blended whiskey made from a combination of whiskeys from the Miyagi and Nagano prefectures. These spirits are later mixed and aged for 3 to 4 years in American oak casks.
Katsushika Hokusai’s “The great wave” Packing a potent peat punch, this bottling leaves a hale and hearty aftertaste, even among Matsui whiskies. We feel the force and majesty of the waves in this Ukiyo-e artwork reflects the spirit of our peated offering, hence why we chose it for our label. Aesthetically pleasing and delicious, this Matsui whisky is a work of pride.
Kikukawa Eizan’s “Beauty in the Cherry blossom Garden” The artist, Kikukawa Eizan, portrayed Japanese women of strength and grace in his ukiyo-e masterpiece, which we believe was a great fit for the sakura cask which also possesses an underlying strength of flavor and a sweet aroma.
The aroma of nuts and almonds is followed by a rich malty texture, with hints of vanilla and raisins, accompanied by a faint smoky flavor in perfect balance with the sweetness, bitterness and acidity of this vintage.
Founded in 1823, Fukano Distillery is located in Hitoyoshi City, of the Kumamoto Prefecture of Japan on the island of Kyushu. Hitoyoshi is surrounded by mountains and is known for its pure water and nature.
