The agave plants found in the highlands of Jalisco offer you juicy, acidic notes of fresh citrus fruits with a satisfying balance of herbs. In contrast, you will find a variety of complex spice notes that are characteristic to the agave plants found in the lowland region. The combination of these types of agave plants is what makes our tequila bold, unique and sophisticated like no other tequila in the world.
Made from the agave grown in Amatitan, Mexico. Aged for 4 years in newly charred French oak barrels, and hand selected by Joel and Richard, for our very special collection. This is a very expensive process that produces a super premium tequila. Hand crafted, double distilled, and made in very small batches, this is a limited edition, as there were only 4500 bottles produced for this specific Joel Richard collection.

Extra Añejo tequila spends 44 months in American Oak whiskey barrels. Drinking Gran Cosecha Extra Añejo is perhaps the ultimate experience for tequila lovers, especially those that come to us from the whiskey world. This is characteristically tequila, however, with beautiful notes of matured agave, oak, cacao, vanilla, and tobacco. We’re telling you, ¡está buenísimo!
Dark amber color and high density body denote the long aging process. Aged at a minimum of 40 months, Elegante is an Extra Añejo. Its complex aromas come with deep notes of toasted oak, dark chocolate, coffee and ripe banana. The palate entry is slightly toasty, peppery and spicy. Every sip of Elegante confirms not only the initial aromas but also new and different flavors such as agave, vanilla, caramel, bourbon, butter, maple, almonds, hazelnuts, black pepper, citrus flowers and more. This tequila lives up to its name; it is simply elegant in all senses.

”As the legend of Tapatio in the US spread and the range expanded, bartenders & tequila aficionados, who had visited La Alteña Distillery in Mexico, started asking for one other special release, the fabled Excelencia Gran Reserva Extra Añejo, one of the oldest tequilas on the market.
Could we get some for the US? Long story short, we were able to get our first 100-case allocation (Lot 1) in Dec 2013. It quickly sold out. Lot 2 arrived Feb 2016. Distilled in 2000 from 100% Estate grown agave, aged for 5 years in used Excelencia barrels, and an additional 10 years in 5-liter glass jugs. It’s one to enjoy neat, with aromas of caramel and eucalyptus, flavors of sandalwood, baking spices, citrus and herbal notes of sage and thyme.”
An ultra-aged tequila, 100% from blue agave, created from a perfect selection of raw material to commemorate the tradition and history of Jose Cuervo. The agaves used to produce it are harvested in full maturity and come from a single crop field. The tequila is first aged in French and American oak barrels. It is then blended with those tequilas to be found in the legendary demijohns of the cellar. Finally it is aged for another year in sherry barrels brought from Spain.

Any Tequila aged more than 3 years is considered “Extra Añejo” Tequila.Caramba goes beyond mere minimums—we age our Extra Anejo for four to six years in specially selected charred oak barrels. With this extended amount of aging, the Tequila becomes much darker and obtains more of a Mahogany color.
