Aged in oak casks for at least sixteen years, this much sought-after single malt has the massive peat-smoke that’s typical of southern Islay – but also offering a dryness that turns it into a truly interesting dram.
This bicentenary is magnificently full-on in flavour – a celebration of the people and craft that make Lagavulin great.
Inspired by the old ancient blackpitts area just behind the new teeling whiskey distillery based in newmarket in the old liberties area of dublin city, this area was synonymous with many industries and in particular malting houses. Blackpitts was traditionally home to some of the largest barley malting houses in ireland. By using smoke from peat to dry the barley during the malting process, the resulting peated malt produces a distinctive smoky taste profile which is the signature of a peated single malt.

On the nose the sensation is toffee and caramel, caused by the vanillas and tannins of the American oak, plus a dryness from the wood oil. The finish is long and alternates between this sweetness and smoke.
Bottled at natural colour, the result is an exquisite Laphroaig with our trademark ‘peat reek’ matched by an additional layer of complexity and depth brought about by the fusion of the maturation styles and different oaks.
The 2020 release of the Laphroaig Cask Strength 25 year is here. This should be on everyones ‘must try’ whisky list.
This uncommonly exquisite 25 year old liquid is a non-chill filtered marriage of sherried, oaky flavours from second fill European Oak Oloroso sherry casks with sweet vanilla notes from American white oak bourbon barrels, bottled at casks strength. Laphroiag 25 Year Old is one of the most unique of all malt whiskies. The exceptional character of this expression makes this a whisky truly worth savouring.

This is where we’re from.
Distilled from Scottish barley in 2013, Octomore 10.1 is the benchmark of the 10s series. Deliberately stripped back to an ex- American oak maturation, aged just 5 years old, the .1 edition exposes the structure and presence of the Octomore spirit. Combining smoke with a modest maturation, this 10.1 first and foremost demonstrates the true potential of a considered, patient distillation.

No Name, No. 3 marks a further point on the spectrum of peat. It is older, wilder and weirder than the previous No Names. Seaweedy and barbecue-scented single malt from the Laphroaig Distillery takes top billing, with malt whisky from the Bowmore Distillery lending compelling hints of mango and pineapple at the very limits of ripeness.
Seashells and sage; pineapple and allspice; smoke that moves in oily waves. This is the perfect whisky for introducing a little drama to proceedings – and a fitting conclusion to our peaty trilogy.
