Our “Batavia Arrack” is a distillate based on 100% sugar-cane molasses, produced exclusively on the island of Java, Indonesia, dated back to the 17th century. It’s comprised of a very specific range of Pot still distillates. It’s the “Rum of Indonesia”. The fermentation process includes the addition of local & traditional Wild Yeast (grown on red rice); it is this, which sets it apart from Rum, although the base material is still sugar-cane. Distillation of our Batavia Arrack is carried out using very traditional Pot stills, adopting ancient Chinese distillers’ methods. Our Master Blender created a excellent product, aged in teak & oak barrels up to 8 years, resulting in fantastic rich and deep flavors, lingering on the palate.

J.M is the smallest producer of Rhum Agricole in Martinique because it is the last 100% estate grown sugarcane rhumerie on the island. We have taken this commitment because of how proud we are of the high quality of sugarcane coming from this particular microclimate, from the face of the volcano Mt. Pelée. Within 1 hour of the sugarcane being harvested, it is pressed to extract its aromatic juice to be crafted into remarkable smooth and full-flavored Rhum Agricole. After some time to mellow in stainless steel, this rum ages three years in in recharred Bourbon barrels and another year in new American oak casks to achieve its illustrious mahogany color, smooth well-balanced flavor, and soft lingering finish.
Single Malt whisky has always been the drive and passion behind Balcones. Over the years we have been inspired by and drawn to other spirit traditions, including the classic American spirit: Rum. After a few small batches of our Texas Rum, we refilled the same casks with select Texas Single Malt, marrying two of our favorite things together to create a unique Texas Whisky. Bottled at cask strength, this is a bold Single Malt with notes of rock candy, spice cake and toasted oak.

My song is the final farewell of a nostalgic heart! I will sing my gypsy song! Powerful, elegant and majestic. Like the power of opera… A rum with an imperial, aristocratic rhythm, we might say: majestic. Full of complete, complex balance. The Spanish style has always been looked down upon as inferior in quality. At this third bottling, we wait with baited breath, along with you, eager to discover the changes ahead together. A lively, profound rum with plenty of personality. Balsamic and mineral scents hit the nose straight away, preparing us for an explosion of dried fruit, cocoa and cornmeal on the palate. The biggest star is certainly coconut, which whisks us off to a boat in the Caribbean, sipping a cocktail. The rich, aromatic finish changes direction, veering towards fresh tobacco, vanilla and liquorice. Remarkably clean on the palate.
The soul of rum is that Spanish gold that gradually reached the remotest corners of Patagonia, setting off from Hispaniola on 12th October 1492. This was the start of a tremendous to and fro of missionaries, monks, conquerors, pirates, cadets of all sorts and more besides; bringing passion, a longing for redemption and a desire to succeed, all compelled to leave the old world behind and start anew. We’ve all imagined (or will imagine) at some point, climbing aboard a caravel, a sailing ship or a transatlantic liner to sail west on the ocean waves. Enlivened by this “nuevo” sentiment, we resolved to create a Spanish style blend, with the burning passion of the tales of Don Quixote and the raucousness of Pamplona during the festival. The opulently scented bouquet is dominated by hints of tropical plants and fruits. The first whiff on the nose brings an immediate, powerful punch of molasses. The glass then gradually reveals a powerful body, with good structure propped up by a round, enveloping flavour. The aromatic finish veers towards scents of tobacco, vanilla and liquorice. “Someday, after mastering the winds, the waves, the tides and gravity, we shall harness for God the energies of love” Pierre Teilhard de Chardin
