The first Midleton Very Rare bottling was released in 1984 and a new vintage is released every year.
he individual nature of the selection process means that each year’s vintage provides its own unique character. The Midleton Very Rare range is not blended like any other whiskey. The uncompromising ritual and expertise of the Master Distiller leads to subtle but recognisable differences between the years.
Prized amongst whiskey appreciators, there are very few collections of all vintages since the first release in existence.
Tasting Note
Aroma
Rich with the influence of American white oak ex bourbon barrels, vanilla sweetness on a layer of oak char. A soft floral note introduces some sweet spices, cinnamon with a touch of green pepper and garden mint. Beautifully rounded with hints of green apple and banana.
Taste
Full, with sweet spices, vanilla and cinnamon with liquorice and the flinty note of barley grains. Some ripe fruit combines with charred oak, adding to the complexity.
Finish
Sweet spicy flavours linger fading slowly only to leave the last word with the barley.
