The first Midleton Very Rare bottling was released in 1984 and a new vintage is released every year.
he individual nature of the selection process means that each year’s vintage provides its own unique character. The Midleton Very Rare range is not blended like any other whiskey. The uncompromising ritual and expertise of the Master Distiller leads to subtle but recognisable differences between the years.
Prized amongst whiskey appreciators, there are very few collections of all vintages since the first release in existence.
Tasting Notes
Aroma
Typical rich Pot Still spices, mild with succulent green fruits, some gooseberry, granny smith apples and a touch of blackcurrant leaf. Well balanced with vanilla and toasted oak, a contribution from top quality ex bourbon barrels.
Taste
The aromatic spices explode on the taste buds, giving a rich yet mellow flavour. A hint of cinnamon combines with vanilla to give a sweetness which is only enhanced by some apple and ripe banana. Oak and barley are the consistent foundation.
Finish
Long and steady. The sweeter notes of the pot still character, the wood and the barley remain to the end.
