Only two Chartreuse monks know the identity of the 130 plants, how to blend them and how to distill them into this world famous liqueur. They are also the only ones who know which plants they have to macerate to produce the natural green and yellow colours. And they alone supervise the slow ageing in oak casks.
A syrup like entry, followed by a jumbled charge of herbal, floral and to some degree citrus or aromatic flavors. Cloves, pine, gentian, genepi, fennel, rosemary, sage, wormwood, an herbal and spice hitting all of your senses at once. This is not to mean we don’t love the stuff, it is just a very intense experience for your senses all at once, in a good way. Made from over 130 herbs, with the same recipe since around 1764. A timeless classic great to drink neat , over ice, or as a modifier in cocktails.
