The history of Fernandes VAT 19 rum dates back to the early 19th century when the Fernandes family arrived in Trinidad. After founding the Fernandes Distillery in the 20th century the brand grew in popularity on the island, eventually becoming one of the best selling, most recognized labels in Trinidad.
In 1973, the Fernandes family sold the company to Angostura.
Fernandes VAT 19 is made from a blend of light and heavy rums distilled in Angostura’s five-column continuous still. It is filtered to remove impurities but does not alter its wood induced, amber colour.
