Description
A 12 year old single malt from Royal Brackla, independently bottled by Signatory! This one was drawn from a pair of bourbon barrels, filled in May 2008 and left to slumber for a dozen years until July 2020. Marvellous stuff, this.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Yellow fruit and sweetness - pears predominantly, then baked apples, and bananas. Very straight-forward! Very enjoyable.
The fruits turns a tad towards the tropical after a while. Perhaps apricots or peaches.
Taste: Full-bodied arrival, with icing sugar, vanilla pods, and almost no tannins to speak of. Since this malt matured in a refill butt, I reckon it was of American oak origin. Wait a second, I sense a speck of licorice. Still no hints of any sherried traits however.
Which is no big deal at all, really.
Finish: Medium. Eucalyptus, vanilla-laced tea, and faint licorice.
