The people of Scotland have been making ‘Uisge Beatha’ or ‘Usquaebach’ since the early 1500’s.  Whisky is as much a part of Scotland as are the rolling hills of the Highlands, and the tenacity of its people. Robert Burns, ‘Scotland’s favorite Son’, widely regarded as the national poet of Scotland, forever memorialized Usquaebach in his poem

Usquaebach” (Oos: Ke: Bah) the name derived from the ancient Gaelic (Original Scots  language) phrase, “uisge beatha” meaning water of life. It is the Gaelic words from which the word “whisky” comes from.
