Legend is opaque and dark-cherry red in appearance with bright and enticing aromas of leather, shaved chocolate, cassis, dried tobacco and black cherry. On the palate it is balanced with a beautiful dark fruit entry followed by a full mid-palate weighted with dark chocolate, cinnamon, vanilla, and followed by finely grained, persistent tannins. This Cabernet Sauvignon blend has been complemented with the powerful and elegant Rhone varieties from our Biodynamic Annadel Estate Vineyard complement each other perfectly in this seamless and supple wine.
The Annadel Gap Vineyard is a special place. Located between Mt. Hood and the Sonoma Mountains, our site is characterized by thick morning fog and strong afternoon winds. Alluvial, glacial, and sedimentary influences create a wide array of soil types. The fruit was hand harvested at night. Clones were kept separate, hand sorted and fermented individually. 25%-50% whole cluster, co-fermented with 3-7% Roussanne, 5-6 days of cold soak, punch downs 1-3 times daily, 14 days on skins & basket pressed. Gravity fed into French oak (62% new). Aged 16 months on lees, gently fined and bottled unfiltered.
Fresh red cherries, violets, and spice aromatics abound, accompanied by rich earth and soil notes. On the palate tannins are consistent and elegant, leading to a persistent finish. This Pinot is a true, distinctive and age-worthy expression of the complexity of the Anderson Valley.
Sangicomo Chardonnay has bright aromatics of lemon curd, freshly cut feijoa, orange blossom, tarragon, raw honey and a subtle touch of ﬂinty notes. On the palate it has a brilliant citrus entry, lemon lime acidity throughout, contrasted beautifully with powerful texture from aging on the lees and a satisfying long ﬁnish of lemon tart. Well-drained, silty gravel soil imparts minerality and a complex richness.
