Bright and spicy, our Cabernet Franc celebrates the savory. We embrace this variety’s characteristic green notes, pairing them with vibrant red fruit and light silky tannins. Stemming from our deliberate and restrained approach to winemaking, this small-lot wine is a vivid reflection of both our estate vineyards and the vintage.
Our Nana, Catherine Trefethen, was Welsh. Her twin loves of wine and family were the original inspiration for our estate in Napa Valley’s Oak Knoll District. Celebrating our heritage, “Y Ddraig Goch”, the symbol of Wales, adorns this bottle of Dragon’s Tooth, a provocative blend born from the rockiest part of our vineyard.
A wine of depth and dignity, this elegant expression of Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon reflects everything we have learned farming our estate vineyards in the cool climate of the Oak Knoll District since 1968. Achieving a density of dark fruit on the palate, we maintain a bright and lively peppery spiciness, resulting in a wine of impeccable balance that evolves beautifully in both the glass and the cellar.
An early-ripening aromatic variety, Sauvignon Blanc is a natural fit for our estate vineyards in the cool climate of the Oak Knoll District. This thoughtfully made small-lot wine reflects not only our land and the vintage, but also our restraint in the cellar and our quest for balance and brightness in our wines.
Merlot flourishes in relatively cool growing regions with moist soils, making it an ideal match for certain parts of our estate vineyard, located in the Oak Knoll District of the Napa Valley, a sweet spot between warmer up-valley regions and the cool southern tip.
Late to ripen, this Bordeaux variety is usually one of the last we harvest and the wine is stained inky black almost immediately. Rarely bottled on its own, this small-lot wine demonstrates the herbal, floral, gravelly, brambly enigma of Petit Verdot.
Our early plantings of Malbec were intended for blending into our other estate grown wines but we quickly realized the variety also wanted to speak for itself. This small-lot bottling showcases intense dark fruit notes, undertones of mint and leather, and fine tannins leading to a bright finish.
Pinot Noir is a delicate grape, famously reflective of the place and people that grow it. Made with a gentle touch, this carefully crafted small-lot wine reveals the distinctive character of our estate vineyards
The Trefethens are one of the pioneering families of Napa Valley and some of the most experimental winegrowers in California. This limited-production blend of Chardonnay, Riesling, and Sauvignon Blanc is beautifully fragrant and refreshing.
