High Coast

The 2020 edition of our classic bottling for Viking Line’s Cinderella Whisky Fair is, as always, a fully flavoured smoky whisky. We can also justifiably claim that it is the most exclusive to date.

Creating a single malt whisky exclusively for the SAS Business class passengers was both an honor and great fun. The result, Atmosfär, is a light peated whisky with lots of High Coast characteristics in the taste.

Silent Mills is a series where we delve deeper into our peated recipe and talk about an soon forgotten chapter in the history of Sweden and the High Coast, the sawmill era. The Silent Mills series is based on Timmer in our Origins series and its smoky flavour. Silent Mills is also a tribute to the many sawmills that once edged the beaches of the Ångermanälven in the area where our distillery is now located, sawmills that have long been silenced.

The previous Small Batch bottnings with the addition “Kramfors Exclusive” has been very appreciated. This is the fourth exclusive tribute to our native place and like the predecessors it can only be purchased in Kramfors.

It is not that common for Solera bottles to be presented in the whisky world. Not genuine ones anyway, although there are some Solera offerings that provide a partial experience. But now it’s time for us Northerners to put our unique twist on this classic Spanish system to salt away and develop high-quality spirits.
This is our first bottling of the Solera-range.

Silent Mills 03 – Svanö is number three in a category of whiskies that deepens and develops the theme of the pedigree and authenticity of our Origins series. Our brand draws its power and originality from the High Coast, and its nature, history and stories. In Silent Mills, our historical origins in the Norrland forest industry are in focus and the whisky is linked to our Origins edition, Timmer.

In 2011 when we filled the barrels for this whisky it felt like an eternity before it would turn 10 years. The history had just begun for the distillery with hope, ambition and a huge belief in the future.
Now, our first ten years has passed by. A significant time for our distillery, but no more than a blink of an eye for our surroundings.

Hav is the Swedish word for Sea.
In the majestic landscape of a world heritage site, High Coast Distillery sits where the beautiful river Ångermanälven merges into the sea. Here, the river is just about to reach the coast and slowly disappear out into the world, just like our single malt whisky.
The message Hav brings to the world is an expression of oak, with a touch of spice and a little northern hardiness.

Peated single malt whisky matured in first fill Bourbon barrels.
Timmer is our peated whisky, our humble tribute to the men and women who once lived and worked here. Those who risked their lives fighting icy cold waters as they steered the heavy logs downstream and kept warm by burning fires under the pale moon light.

Is a sherry matured whisky which has the same natural colour as the Nordingrå granite which can be seen protruding the dramatic landscape of the High Coast. The casks have previously held the flavoursome Pedro Ximénez sherry.

Älv is the Swedish word for River.
Outside our front door runs the beautiful river Ångermanälven, the heart of the High Coast region and essential to our distillery. We are able to make such elegant whisky thanks to the naturally cold, crystal clear water sourced from the river.
Älv — a well-balanced soft single malt with vanilla tones. Älv is our most elegant whisky.
